According to the official release of the Finance Ministry, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley will start this payment app in Delhi on 18th September. Indian National Payment Corporation (NPCI) said in July that Google has completed its testing of the UPA (Unified Payment Interface) payment service.

To get it started in the country, it is awaiting the permission of the Reserve Bank of India. Google has also sent invitations to the people. It is worth noting that WhatsApp and Facebook are also negotiating with NPCI to start such a facility.
