WhatsApp Stops Supporting Windows Phone and Blackberry OS by the End of 2018

WhatsApp announced it will stop supporting a number of mobile OSs as of December 31, 2017, which are:


  • Windows Phone 8.0
  • BlackBerry OS and BlackBerry 10
  • Android version 2.3.7 (Gingerbread)
  • Nokia S40
The mobile OS users can still use WhatsApp, but some features in the chat service can stop functioning at any time. WhatsApp advises its users to upgrade their OS or device to keep enjoying its services. Oldest mobile OS that still gets support include: WhatsApp Stops Supporting BlackBerry OS and BlackBerry 10
  • Android version 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich)
  • iOS 7
  • Windows Phone 8.1

Other important facts :-

WhatsApp first came to iOS in 2009, and newly supports another mobile OS (Android) in 2010.

WhatsApp is the world's most popular chat app in January 2017 with monthly active users reaching over one billion users, according to Statista.

Although one of the chat applications are widely used in Indonesia, the popularity of WhatsApp is still less than the fuel in the country.
